The Bodum Brazil 3 Cup French Press Coffee Maker Overview
I remember when I was in university a few of my friends would refer to the French Press as a Bodum. Bodum is actually a company that was started back in 1944 by Peter Bodum in Copenhagen, Denmark. To me, the fact that people refer to the coffee maker as a Bodum shows how much quality the company must put into its products. To many, Bodum is considered a premium coffee maker which can make one of the best cups of coffee. The company stands for making beautiful, functional and quality devices that can be purchased at an affordible price. Naturally, when I was thinking of doing a product review for a French Press coffee maker – Bodum was one of the first companies that came to mind.
The Bodum Brazil French Press coffee maker was designed in the early 1980’s and was one of the company’s first coffee makers. The Brazil comes in various colours and this French Press is designed for a single serving of coffee. The carafe is BPA free and is made of durable, heat-resistant borosilicate glass. The handle and base are made of plastic and the 3 part stainless steel mesh filter helps to extract your coffee’s aromatic oils and subtle flavours. All the parts are dishwasher safe. The Brazil comes with a limited 1-year warranty.
I noticed that brewing coffee with a French Press was relatively effortless with the Bodum Brazil. This coffee maker was very easy to use and I was surprised at how simple this system is. The quality of the coffee produced was excellent – it was strong, flavourful and full-bodied and I was very impressed that there was very little (if not any) sediment in the cup of coffee. The system was very easy to clean.
What I liked
- The unit is very practical and has a nice design.
- Makes a great cup of coffee
- Very easy to use
- Light-weight (7.8 ounces)
- Portable. Can be used at home or the office
- Easy to clean.
What I didn’t like
- Parts of the name are misleading. This coffee maker is listed as Bodum Brazil 3 cup French Press Coffee Maker, 12 oz. This system when filled to the top makes one standard cup of coffee. In fact the majority of the complaints or comments I have seen have been related to this very fact.
After having used this product on many occasions I would recommend the Bodum Brazil. Overall, I found this to be a fun and easy way to brew coffee. This system produces an excellent cup of coffee, is practical and portable. This is a great French Press and it is really hard to ignore the extremely affordable price tag associated with it.
